Goa, 30 July 2021: National Institute of Technology (NIT0 Goa, an Institute of National Importance, has announced PhD Admission July 2021. Full Time PhD Scholars are eligible for Institute Fellowships.

Admission to Ph.D. programmes will be in the following schemes:

Full-time (FT)/Regular Scheme: The candidates selected under regular scheme (full-time) shall be entitled for scholarship/assistantship and HRA as per Govt. of India norms from time to time.

Part-time (PT) Scheme:

Start of Online Application (Website Open) – 17 July 2021(5.00PM)

.Last Date for submission of Online application (Website Closure) – 06 Aug 2021 (5.00PM)

Tentative Schedule for Written Test*/Interview – 12 Aug 202 Aug  & 13 A2021

List of Departments where PhD Admission Available:

  • Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)
  • Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE)
  • Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE)
  • Department of Civil Engineering (CVE)
  • Department of Mechanical Engineering (MCE)
  • Department of Applied Sciences (AS)
  • Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) – English, Economics.

Eligibility Conditions:

For PhD in Engineering and Technology (CSE, ECE, EEE, CVE, MCE):

For PhD in Engineering and Technology (CSE, ECE, EEE, CVE, MCE): Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology (M.E. or M.Tech.) in the relevant discipline with a minimum 6.5 CGPA on a 10 point scale grading system or 60% marks in both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels from recognized Technical Institute or University. For SC/ST candidates a minimum 6.0 CGPA on a 10 point scale grading system or 55% marks.

Candidates will be considered for Ph.D. programme in Engineering and Technology Department on the basis of:

 A GATE qualification obtained at some point in time in the respective disciplines or fellowships such as JRF/UGC/NET/CSIR/DST-INSPIRE etc. or qualification in any other national level tests as specified by the GoI order*.

For Ph.D. in Applied Sciences: For Ph.D. in Applied Sciences: Master’s degree in Sciences / M. Tech. in the relevant area with a minimum 6.5 CGPA on a 10 point scale grading system or 60% marks in both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels from recognized Institute or University. For SC/ST candidates a minimum 6.0 CGPA on a 10 point scale grading system or 55% marks.

Candidates will be considered for Ph.D. programme in Applied Sciences Department on the basis of:

 GATE Score/NBHM/CSIR-NET qualification. (Applicable for FT scheme only)

For Ph.D. in Humanities & Social Sciences: For Ph.D. in Humanities & Social Sciences: Master’s degree in Humanities with a minimum 6.0 CGPA on a 10 point scale grading system or 55% marks in both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels from recognized Institute or University for General and OBC candidates. For SC/ST candidates a minimum 5.5 CGPA on a 10 point scale grading system or 50% marks.

Candidates will be considered for Ph.D. programme in Humanities & Social Sciences Department on the basis of:

 UGC-NET qualification. (Applicable for FT scheme only)
