Imphal: National Institute of Technology (NIT), Manipur has invited applications for Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Programme starting in July 2017. The PhD programmes are available under four categories: Regular (Full Time), Part Time, Sponsored, and Project Fellow. The closing date for submission of online application is 31 May 2017. Also the last date for submission of application (Hard Copy) at NIT Manipur is 31 May 2017.
The PhD programmes are offered in the following disciplines: Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. The total number of PhD seats is 34 for July 2017 session. NIT Manipur will provide assistantship to the regular students as per MHRD rules, subject to availability of fund.
Eligibility Criteria for Admission into PhD Programme:
For Engineering : Master’s degree in appropriate branch of Engineering/Technology for admission in Engineering with consistently good academic record and a minimum of 60% marks or an equivalent CGPA/CPI in Master degree (Candidates with BE/ BTech with an aggregate of 70% marks or equivalent CGPA/CPI with valid GATE score will also be eligible).
For Science: Master’s degree in appropriate branch of Science with NET or valid GATE for admission in Science with consistently good academic record and a minimum of 60% marks or an equivalent CGPA/CPI in Master degree..)
Relaxation for SC/ST/PD Candidates: Eligibility criteria will be relaxed by 5% marks or 0.5 CGPA/CPI for SC/ST/PD category applicants.
Selection Procedure: NET/GATE qualified candidates will be exempted from the written examination. The admission to Ph.D. Programme will be on the basis of weightage as given below: Overall academic performance (to be fixed by the PhD Admission Committee) : 70%; Interview conducted by the Department : 30%.
Application fees is Rs. 500/- for General/OBC) and Rs. 250 for SC/ST, which will be paid online.
