Nagpur, 21 November 2020: Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur, an Institute of National Importance, has invited applications for PhD (Full Time) and PhD (Part Time) program admission for January 2021 session. Financial Benefits for PhD (Full Time) scholars with Teaching Assistantship is available.
There are 15 departments where PhD admission has been sought. Candidates, who’s ME / MTech/ MArch/ MPlan / MSc result is awaited, can also apply for PhD program.
Key Dates: The receipt of application has started from 09 November 2020. The closing date for submission of application is 23 November 2021.
Candidates applied for July 2020 PhD admission and found their names in the list displayed on the VNIT website need not to apply again. Their applications will be considered for Jan-2021 PhD admissions.
The candidate having secured Government Fellowship i.e, DST fellowship, CSIR fellowship, UGC fellowship can apply for Ph.D. program under Cat 1 at VNIT even if candidate does not have valid GATE scores/NET qualification or candidate has not appeared for GATE/NET.
Candidates, whose M.E. / M.Tech/ M.Arch. / M.Plan. / M.Sc. result is awaited, can also apply for Ph.D. program. They will have to submit the result of M.E. / M.Tech/ M.Arch. / M.Plan./M.Sc. exam to Academic Section, till that time their registration will be provisional.

- SRF / JRF / research staff of R&D projects sponsored to VNIT
- Sponsored candidates (place of research work VNIT only)
- Sponsored Candidate from 100% centrally funded research laboratories including public sector and private industries

Selection:
(i) Candidate should have qualified GATE/NET score in the past. The GATE/NET score, percentile GATE score as well as qualified mark should be stated.
(ii) Candidate should also score minimum 40% marks in Interview for selection.
(iii) Final list will be prepared based on following points
Written Exam – 40%
GATE/NET Score – 40%
Interview – 20%
