Bhubaneswar, 12 January 2021: Xavier University Bhubaneswar (XUB), a leading private university in Odisha, has invited online applications for Doctoral Program (PhD). XUB will conduct X-RAT (Research Aptitude Test of Xavier University, Bhubaneswar) on 02 April 2021 (Saturday).  Both Full Time and Part Time PhD Programmes are offered.

Financial Support: Based on the results of the admission process, “University Sponsored” scholarship of 30,000 INR per month will be provided to scholars joining the program, subject to the information that they are not in recipient of any other financial support from any other sources. The scholarship will be given for a duration of 4 years from doctoral registration.

Key Dates: The last date to fill up the application form is 28 February 2021.

X-RAT (Research Aptitude Test of Xavier University, Bhubaneswar) on 02 April 2021 (Saturday).

Presentation, and Admission Interviews is on 03 April 2021 (Saturday).

Name of Schools and Basic Eligibility for PhD Admission 2021:

Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar: Master’s or equivalent degree in any discipline with minimum 60% of marks in the Master’s level.

School of Human Resource Management:

  1. Full time Post Graduate or Master’s Degree from any AICTE / UGC approved institution in Human Resource Management / Psychology / Personnel Management / Labour Welfare / Industrial or Employment Relations / Business Management having at least 55% marks in aggregate

OR

  1. Masters or equivalent degree and UGC NET qualified in Subjects like- Human Resource Management / Psychology / Personnel Management / Labour Welfare / Industrial or Employment Relations / Business Management having at least 55% marks in aggregate

OR

  1. Master’s Degree in any other discipline, from AICTE / UGC approved institutions, with minimum 60% of marks in aggregate.

School of Rural Management:   Master’s degree in any discipline or equivalent.

School of Human Settlements   – For Ph.D- Urban Management and Governance:

Master’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration / Planning / Urban Design / Urban Development / Architecture / Sustainability / Public Policy / Political Science / Public Administration / Governance or related specializations / Engineering / Technology / Public Health

For PhD-Planning:

Master’s degree or equivalent in Planning / Architecture / Urban Design / Urban Development / Geography / Economics / Statistics / Sociology or related specializations

School of Sustainability:               Master’s or equivalent degree in any discipline with minimum 60% of marks in the Master’s level.

School of Commerce:    Master’s or equivalent degree in any discipline with minimum 60% of marks in the Master’s level.

School of Communications:        Master’s degree in Communication and Journalism / Visual Communication / Communication / Electronic Media / New media / Fine Arts / Advertising and Public Relations / Broadcast Communication / Film Studies / English language and literature, OR a professional Degree in the stream of communication declared equivalent by the corresponding statuary regulatory body.

School of Computer Science & Engineering:       M. Tech. / M.E. / Master Degree in Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Electronics / Telecommunication / Data Science, or MBA / MS with B.Tech in Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Information Technology

Xavier Law School:

Eligibility: The candidates should have a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in any discipline from a recognised university, with at least  55% marks. In case the score is available on a letter-grade system, the institute expects a minimum cumulative score of 5.5 on a 10-point scale.

The candidates who will be offered admission into the doctoral program will be classified in two categories:

Category I (Domain Candidates): These candidates have the requisite domain-level qualification as given in the table below (received within the last 5 years) at the time of admission.

Category II (Other Candidates): These candidates are applicants who do not meet the requirements of Domain Candidates as documented below.

Selection Process: Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their academic records and SOPs. The shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for Xavier Research Aptitude Test (X-RAT), Subject Test (if applicable), Presentation, and Personal Interview to be held in Bhubaneswar.

X-RAT: XAT is the Research Aptitude Test conducted by Xavier University, Bhubaneswar as a part of the PhD admission process. The test is used to assess some basic skills considered essential for researchers, namely writing ability, verbal ability and comprehension, reasoning, and quantitative aptitude.  The total marks for the test is 100 and the total time allocated is 2 hours and 30 minutes. The test is conducted in Xavier University, Bhubaneswar premises (Old Campus and/or New Campus).

The X-RAT test is mandatory for those who are willing to join the doctoral program at Xavier University, Bhubaneswar. Even any candidates who have already appeared for other Ph.D Eligibility Tests (e.g. CSIR-UGC NET, etc.), they need to also appear X-RAT.
