Mumbai: IIT Bombay – Monash Research Academy (The Academy) has invited applications from eligible candidates for PhD admission in various research programs for the session December 2018. IIT Bombay- Monash Research Academy is a partnership between IIT Bombay and Monash University, Melbourne (Australia). The Academy is under-pinned by a PhD Agreement between IIT Bombay and Monash University, students will receive a dual-badged PhD degree from IIT Bombay and Monash University.
Research Areas: The Academy offers PhD programs in inter-disciplinary research in the fields in science, technology, computer science, IT, Engineering, humanities, design and mathematics. The key six research themes are as followed: Advanced Computational Engineering, Simulation and Manufacture, Infrastructure Engineering, Clean Energy, Water, Nanotechnology, Biotechnology and Stem Cell Research, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Design.
Key Dates: Applications for the December 2018 intake are now open. The last date for submission of EOI forms is 10 September 2018.

The minimum entrance requirements for PhD admission are:
First class or equivalent Master’s degree in a range of disciplines
First class Bachelor’s degree and a valid GATE score
Satisfying requirements of academic qualifications and English Language proficiency of Monash University.
Scholarships: The Academy claimed that it will offer PhD Scholarships to successful candidates.
Students in the joint IITB-Monash PhD program will benefit from the following funding arrangements:
Rs 372,000 per annum scholarship for the first two years
Rs 420,000 per annum after first two years
A grant of up to A$25,850 per annum in Australia
A minimum of one year in Australia working with your Monash University co-supervisor (some projects may require you to be in Australia for a longer period of time or undertake more than one trip),Waiver of international student tuition fees at Monash University.
The Academy has a long-term steady-state aspiration of housing 250-300 PhD scholars at any given point in time, pursuing various fields of scientific endeavour. The aim is for the research scholars to be supervised by the best minds from IIT Bombay, Monash University and Industry Partners of The Academy along with participation from Industry. The intention is for The Academy PhD and Post Doc scholars to be paid a healthy scholarship.
