Bangalore:  Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore invited applications for for admission to the Research Programs (PhD only).  The PhD admission is going on at IISc Bangalore for Mid-Year Admissions 2017.

Key Dates & Application Fee Category: The online application window will open from 01 October 2017. The last date for online submission of applications for 31 October 2017. The application fee for General / OBC is Rs.800/-  while for SC / ST / PwD, the application fee is Rs.400/ .

Participating Departments: Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Automation, Ecological Sciences, Electrical Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Systems Engineering, High Energy Physics, Instrumentation and Applied Physics, Inorganic & Physical Chemistry, Materials Research, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nanoscience and Engineering,  Solid State and Chemistry.  Interdisciplimary program – Biosystems Science and Engineering.

Eligibility: Candidates possessing a minimum  of second class in the following degrees are eligible to apply:

1 Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology/ Graduates of 4-year Bachelor of Science; Valid GATE score* / NET JRF** is mandatory.

2 Master’s degree in Science / Master’s degree in Economics, Geography, Social Work, Psychology, Management,Commerce, Operations Research, Computer Science/ Application               Valid GATE score / NET JRF is mandatory.

3 Master’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Agriculture/ Pharmacy/ Veterinary Sciences ; Desirable to have valid GATE score / NET JRF.

4 MS/MBA (post BE/B Tech) – (applicable for the department of Management Studies/Ecological Sciences); Desirable to have valid GATE score / NET JRF.

5 Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Engineering/ Technology from any centrally funded technical institutions, with a minimum CGPA of 8.5 out of 10 or its equivalent either of seventh semester or at the end of eighth semester.  Desirable to have valid GATE score / NET JRF.

6 MBBS/MD; Desirable to have valid GATE score / NET JRF.

*The GATE score should be valid as on 01 January  2018.  Candidates securing the valid GATE score for the years 2015/2016/2017 may apply.

** NET JRF includes – CSIR-UGC NET for JRF; UGC-NET for JRF; DBT JRF; ICMR JRF; JEST; NBHM; INSPIRE.

Short-listing is based either on national entrance tests performance or on the academic performance in the qualifying degree examination. The final selection is based on the performance at an interview.

(Note that candidates who were called for the interview held in June 2017 in any one of the above mentioned departments are also eligible to apply again.)
