Chennai: University of Madras, a public state university in Chennai, has released PhD admission notification for January 2018 session. The PhD programmes are offered in more than70 departments of the university. Both PhD (Full-Time) and PhD (Part-Time) are offered.

Key Dates & Application Fees: The closing date for submission of application is 31 December 2017. Applications can be downloaded from the University websie and submit the same with processing fee of Rs.500/- (fee exempted for SC / ST). Candidates should submit the Hard copy of the on-line Application form to the respective University Department / Affiliated College / Research Institution where the candidate is proposed to do their research work on or before 31 December 2017.

Eligibility Conditions: Candidate should have obtained a Master’s Degree with 55% marks in the qualifying examination. For SC/ST candidates and for candidates who have completed the PG degree before 1991, the minimum can be only 50% for admission to the Ph.D. Programme.

Teachers of affiliated colleges holding NET/SLET qualification or M.Phil., degree with one year of teaching experience after M.Phil., degree., are eligible to register for Ph.D. (Part-time) Programme.

Teachers of Higher Secondary Schools/High Schools and Polytechnic with two years of experience after the qualifying (PG) degree are eligible to register for PhD (Part-Time) Programme.
