New Delhi, 04 April 2026: In India, there are 32 National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and more than 20 Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs). These premier research and education institutes admit PhD scholars in two sessions.
As on 04 April 2026, there are seven NITs have announced PhD Admission for July 2026-27 session.. These institutes offer attractive fellowships, popularly known as Institute Fellowships. The total number of Institute Fellowships are expected to be more than 500 seats.

SV NIT Surat Opens PhD Admission July 2026 with Institute Fellowships
Surat, 01 April 2026: Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat, an Institute of National Importance, has invited applications for PhD Programmes for July 2026 session. Institute Fellowship benefits are available to Full Time PhD scholars.
Institute fellowship to FIR scholars as per MoE guidelines. (At present Rs. 37,000/- p.m. for first 02 years and Rs. 42,000/- p.m. after 02 years).

NIT Warangal Opens PhD Admission July 2026 with Institute Fellowships
Warangal, 31 March 2026: National Institute of Technology (NIT ) Warangal, an Institute of National Importance, has announced PhD Admission for July 2026 session. The PhD Programs, in Full-time (FT) and Part-time (PT) modes, are offered in 13 departments of the institute.
Fellowships: Currently, the Full-time students are eligible to receive Rs. 37,000 per month for first two years and Rs. 42,000 per month for subsequent three years by fulfilling PhD guidelines.
However, the Institute fellowships are subject to change from time to time as per the instructions from the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
