Mumbai: Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), an autonomous Research Institute under the Department of Atomic Energy, has announced the Graduate School Admissions (GS-2018). TIFR, a Deemed University, offers PhD, Integrated MSc-Ph.D., and MSc programs in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Computer Science and Science Education.
The Nationwide Entrance Examination for GS 2018 will he held on 10 December 2017 (10 December 2017). The closing date for submission of application is 10 October 2017. The Online payment link will be active up to 18 October 2017. The online application window will be activated soon.
Fellowship Benefits under GS-2018: PhD Students receive a monthly fellowship of Rs 25,000/- (enhanced to Rs 28,000/- after registration). I-PhD Students receive a monthly fellowship of Rs 16,000/- for the first year. At the end of the first year, upon satisfactory performance, the fellowship is enhanced to Rs 25,000/- per month (further raised to Rs 28,000/- after registration for PhD). M.Sc. (Biology) Students receive a monthly fellowship of Rs 16000/-. M.Sc. (Wildlife Biology & Conservation) Students receive a monthly fellowship of Rs 12000/-. Accommodation is provided to Ph.D. and I-Ph.D. students only, at a nominal cost.

In addition to the admissions through this nationwide examination in December, some admissions in Physics based on GATE / NET / JEST scores are also possible. Details of these admission procedures will be available on the websites of TIFR Mumbai, ICTS, TCIS and NCRA, separately at appropriate times.
The admission notification has also informed that students applying for Physics also have the option to be considered for the Graduate Training Programme (GTP) of the India-based Nueutrino Observatory (INO).
