New Delhi, 27 March 2023: In India there are 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).  These Institutes of National Importance (INIs) admit PhD students in two sessions: July and January.

For July 2023 session, there are more than eight IITs have opened PhD Admission. Out of these three IITs have announced PhD Admission with number seats available for Institute Fellowships or assistantship.  The total number PhD seats with fellowships are 1141 in these three IITs.

  • IIT Madras – 323 PhD Seats with Fellowships – 31 March 2023
  • IIT Guwahati – 588 PhD Seats –  20 April 2023
  • IIT (BHU) Varanasi- 230 PhD Seats With Fellowships -06 April 2023

IIT Madras Announces PhD Admission July 2023: 323 PhD Seats with Fellowships & 144 Seats for MS

Chennai, 22 February 2023: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, an Institute of National Importance, has opened application window for PhD/Direct PhD/MS (by Research) Admission July 2023 Semester.  Scholars admitted to PhD and MS programmes under Regular scheme are eligible for the following Half-Time Research Assistantship (HTRA).

The total number of vacant PhD seats with HTRA are 323 while MSC (by Research) seats are 144 for July 2023-24 session.

Fellowships: Scholars admitted to PhD and M.S. programmes under Regular scheme are eligible for the following Half-Time Research Assistantship (HTRA).  PhD Candidates will get Rs 31,000 /- Per Month while MS (By Research) candidates will get Rs 12,400 Per Month. They should work for 8 hours per week in the Departments to earn this assistantship.

Key Dates: The online application portal has opened from 01 March 2023. The last date of Receipt of Online Application is 31 March 2023.

IIT Guwahati Opens PhD Admission for 588 Seats July 2023 Session ! Institute Fellowships

Guwahati, 26 March 2023: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, an Institute of National Importance, has announced  Doctoral/MTech/MDes/MS(R)/MA programmes of July 2023 Session.

Total Number of PhD Seats: The total number of PhD Seats available are for the July 2023 session are 588. Special Seats for PhD Programme under CSIR/UGC JRF Scheme are 10.

IIT Guwahati offers admission to PhD programme under Regular Category and certain Non-Regular Categories, viz. Sponsored, Employed Part-Time, Project-Staff, External, and Self-Financed categories. The details of these studentship categories are given below.

The seats offered under non-regular categories are limited to a maximum of 10% of the total number of PhD seats of the respective department/school/centre.

Key Dates:

Opening of Application Portal for Submission of Applications: 24 March 2023.

Closing of Application Portal: 05:00 PM on 20 April 2023

Registration of New PhD students:  24 July 2023.

IIT (BHU) Varanasi Opens PhD Admission July 2023 with 230 Institute Assistantships

Varanasi, 27 March 2023: Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), IIT BHU, Varanasi , an Institute of National Importance, has announced Admission to MTech, MPharm. and PhD Programmes for Odd semester of the Academic Session 2023-24.

 

Financial Assistance for PhD Programmes Full Time Regular Registration Category: Financial assistance in the form of Teaching Assistantships (@ Rs. 31,000/- per month) of the Institute is available to full time PhD students is available to the students admitted to PhD programmes.

Total Vacant Seats for PhD Programmes:  The total number of vacant PhD seats with Institutional Fellowships are 230.

IIT(BHU) also offers the joint Ph.D. programmes with IIT-Guwahati

Key Dates: The online portal is available for submission of applications from 15 March 2023 at 1200 hrs to 06 April 2023 at 1700 hrs .
