New Delhi, 12 December 2021: In India, there are more than 50 Central Universities.In these universities students from anywhere in India can apply as CUs controlled by Government of India.
As on 12 December 2021, there are two Central Universities which have opened admission for PhD programmes for 2021-22. The total number of PhD seats in these two CUs are 265.

New Delhi, 11 December 2021: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), a Central University, has released PhD Admission Notification for 2021. The National Testing Agency, an Autonomous Agency under Ministry of Education, will conduct the Entrance Test.
Total PhD Seats: The total number of PhD seats are 232 across 23 subjects.

Sikkim University Opens PhD Admission for 2021-22: 33 PhD Seats & 08 MPhil Seats
Sikkim, 12 December 2021: Sikkim University, a Central University, invites applications for admission to MPhil and PhD programmes against the vacant seats under SC/ST/OBC category.
Interested candidates with 50% marks in Post- Graduate or equivalent grade in relevant / allied subject may apply online between 7 December 2021 to 16 December 2021.
Total Number of Vacant Seats: The total number of vacant seats are 33 for PhD while the total number of vacant MPhil seats are 08.
Key Dates: The closing date for submission of application is 16 December 2021.
