New Delhi, 01 April 2023: In India there are 32 National Institutes of Technology (NITs). These Institutes carry Institutes of National Importance (INIs) tag and are dream destination for PhD Scholars. These research universities offer Institute Fellowships as per Ministry of Education norms.
These institutes offer attractive Teaching Assistantship or Institutional Fellowships to PhD scholars.
As on 01 April 2023, there are Two NITs which have opened PhD Admission for January 2023 session. The total number of Institute Fellowships seats are expected be nearly 200 seats.

Bhopal, 01 April 2023: Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal, popularly known as NIT, an Institute of National Importance, has released PhD Admission Notification for July 2023-24 Session.
Total Vacant PhD Seats:
Full Time Research Students (150 number of seats)
Sponsored Full Time (36 number of seats)
JRF/Project Associates (In all Department/Centres of MANIT, Bhopal)
Internal faculty members working in MANIT Bhopal in regular capacity
Full Time Research Students (150 number of seats) are eligible for Teaching Assistantship as per Ministry of Education norms.

NIT Calicut Opens PhD Admission July 2023 with Institute Fellowships
Calicut, 15 March 2023: National Institute of Technology (NIT) Calicut, Kerala, an Institute of National Importance, has invited applications from eligible candidates for admission to PhD programmes July 2023 (Monsoon) session. Institute Fellowships are available for Regular PhD Scholars.
Admission to the Ph.D. programmes will be in the following schemes:
Scheme I: Full-time registration with Institute Fellowship or other Govt. Fellowships like CSIR-UGC –
Scheme II: Full-time registration under the Self-Sponsored category
Scheme III: Full-time registration for candidates sponsored from Industry or other organizations including Educational Institutions
Scheme IV: Internal Registration for regular staff employed at NITC/ Research staff employed in funded projects at NITC
Scheme V: External (Part-time) Registration for candidates, from Industry or other organizations including Educational Institutions, who possess a post graduate degree Scheme VI: External (Part-time) Registration to Direct PhD programme for candidates working in Industry/R&D Labs/Medical Institutions who do not have a post graduate degree but have relevant experience in reputed Industry/R&D Labs/Medical Institutions.
