Mumbai: Department of Atomic Energy (DoAE) has invited applications for recruitment of Trainee Scientific Officers (TSO) through Babha Atomic Research Centre Training Schools for the academic year 2017-18. After successful completion of the training programme, they will be absorbed as Scientific Officer in a Group A post of the Government of India. The recruitment will be carried out under two schemes: OCES 2017 (Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Graduates) and DGFS 2017 (DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme for Engineering Graduates and Physics Post Graduates).
Eligibility: The eligible engineering disciplines are as followed: Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Civil Engineering, Nuclear Engineering. The eligible science disciplines are given below: Physics, Chemistry, Biosciences, Geology, Geophysics, Applied Geophysics, Applied Geo-Chemistry, Geological technology and Geophysical technology. A minimum of 60% aggregate mark is required in the qualifying degree. Science post-graduates are further required to have secured a minimum of 60% aggregate mark in BSc also. Key Dates: The online application begins from 23 January 2017 while ends on 14 February 2017. The online examination will be held during 18th – 26th March 2017. The closing date for uploading GATE Score is 2 April 2017.
Selection Process: As per the Recruitment Notification, the selection to OCES / DGFS – 2017 is a two-step process. The first screening will be done based on the valid GATE 2016/GATE 2017 score card in the applicable discipline or the Online Test to be conducted by BARC in March 2017. In the second step, the short-listed candidates should be called for Interviews to be held in Mumbai and Hyderabad during May-June 2017.
Recruitment Scheme Details:
One-year Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Postgraduates for the academic year 2017-2018 (OCES-2017): This programme will be conducted in the five BARC Training Schools situated at Mumbai, Kalpakkam, Indore and Hyderabad. A Trainee Scientific Officer (TSO) who scores a minimum of 50% aggregate marks on completion of the Training Program is declared to have passed the course successfully. Successful TSOs will be posted as Scientific Officers in one of the various DAE units.
Two-year DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme for Engineering Graduates and Physics Postgraduates for the academic session beginning in July/August 2017 (DGFS-2017): Under this scheme, Engineering Graduates and Physics Postgraduates who have excelled in the Selection Interviews for the BARC Training Schools’ programs and who have also independently secured admission for M. Tech. / M. Chem. Engg. in select Institutes and mentioned specializations, are paid stipend and tuition fee to pursue a M. Tech. / M. Chem. Engg. degree while retaining their employment in DAE. The stipend amount is Rs 35,000 per month and a one-time book allowance of Rs 10,000.
After successful completion of one-year course work at the Institute, DGFS Fellows undertake project work, which is assigned by DAE and supervised jointly by a DAE and an Institute guide.
On successful completion of M. Tech. / M. Chem. Engg, DGFS Fellows will be posted as Scientific Officers in DAE. Appointment in DAE units shall be as a ‘Group A’ Gazetted Officer of the Government of India.
