Hyderabad: Indian School of Business (ISB) and Ivey Business School have announced the ISB-Ivey Global Case Competition 2016 results. Pitabas Mohanty, XLRI, Jamshedpur and Supriti Mishra, International Management Institute, Bhubaneswar have won 1st prize in the overall category where as Sunita Mehta, Hyderabad Business School, GITAM University and Surya Kant Sharma, XLRI, Jamshedpur bagged the second position in the overall category. The team of Pitabas and Supriti, winner of first prize, presented a case study on Good Company or Good Stock – Investor’s Dilemma whereas the second place winner, the team of Sunita and Surya Kant presented a case study on Barefoot College of Tilonia: Lighting Up Rural Lives in Under Developed Countries.
The first award winning team will get a cash prize of $ 4000 while second team will get cash prize of $ 3000. The award ceremony will be held in November 2016. The response to this year’s ISB-Ivey Global Case Competition was overwhelming as candidates from foreign countries have participated. Besides, most major business schools in India, participants from institutions in Malaysia, Botswana, the United Arab Emirates, Canada, the Netherlands, and the United States have also shown interest in the competition.
These case studies have highlighted business stories of organisations, that range from early start-ups to large multinationals, and highlight a wide gamut of business issues, be it from mainstream disciplines such as Strategy, Marketing and Finance, to growing areas of interest such as, Social Enterprise and Corporate Governance.

Broadly, the competition received 95 final case submissions that were accompanied with detailed teaching notes. Launched in 2010, the ISB-Ivey Global Case Competition has steadily gained prominence in India and abroad and is widely considered an important source for India-centric cases by B-Schools around the globe. The global competition is supported by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Ivey Publishing (IP), the publishing arm of Ivey Business School, and the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD).
Commenting on the 2016 competition, Professor Arun Pereira, Executive Director, Centre for Learning and Management Practice, ISB, said “The ISB-Ivey Global Case Competition continues to grow from strength to strength. It is heartening to see the increasing reach of the competition; this year we had faculty from Europe and the Middle-East submitting India-based cases. Further, thanks to competitions like this, business schools across the world have access to an increasing selection of India cases that reflect the rich and varied landscape of the Indian economy.”
