New Delhi: Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, based in New Delhi, has notified the PhD admission (winter session-2016-17) for various programmes: Bio-technology, English and Education.  The online submission of applications has commenced from 07 January 2017 and will end on 27 January 2017.

Educational Qualification: As per the PhD admission notification, the candidate should hold a Master’s Degree (MSc/MA/MTech/MEd) with not less than 55% marks, with 5% relaxation for SC/ST and persons with disability, in the relevant subject. Candidates must appear in a written entrance exam known as Research Aptitude Test (RAT) conducted by the university. The university mentioned in the notification that based on the performance in the written test, the list of candidates shortlisted by the PhD admission committee to appear in the interview for admission to PhD shall be displayed on the university website by the Dean of the concerned school.

However, candidates who have cleared a national level examination like CSIR/UGC-NET-JRF/Lecturership, DBTJRF, ICMR-JRF, or equivalent fellowship shall be exempted from the university’s written test and can appear directly for interview. Candidates who have appeared in the above examinations but are awaiting results may also apply.

The university informed in the statement that candidates who have already enrolled their fellowships in some other institutions and are interested to have their fellowships transferred to GGSIP University may also apply, provided the period of available fellowship is at least 4 years.

Research Aptitude Test (RAT):  RAT examination will have two sections:  General Aptitude Test (GAT); Subject Specific Test  (SST). RAT is a qualifying test and short-listing of candidates will be based on marks secured in RAT. The shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview and final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks secured in interview. The RAT will be held on 12 February 2017.
