Bengaluru: Industry titans, entrepreneurs, sportspersons, policy makers and actors, along with the alumni of Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, are all set to make IIMBue 2016, the annual leadership summit organized by the Alumni Association of IIM Bangalore, an event to remember.
On December 17 and 18, 2016, the Taj Bangalore, will see IIMB alumni, students and achievers celebrate their association with the country’s premier management school and share thoughts on the theme, ‘Start, Scale & Disrupt’.
Congratulating the IIMBue team on making last year’s event a grand success and wishing them the best for the second edition, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Chairperson & Managing Director, Biocon, and Chairperson, Board of Governors, IIMB, said: “IIM Bangalore values its relations with the alumni and lauds their efforts in putting up the mega event called IIMBue. On Day 1 of IIMBue 2016, Minister of State with Independent Charge for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy and Mines in the Government of India, Piyush Goyal will share his thoughts on the leadership mantra for mature institutions. Mohandas Pai, Head, Aarin Capital Partners, and Sharad Sharma of iSPIRT will discuss ‘Investing in Disruption’. Biocon MD Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Preetha Reddy, MD, Apollo Group of Hospitals, and Geetha Gopalakrishnan, Honorary Director, Tata Medical Centre, will engage in a panel discussion on ‘Creating greater business impact through enhanced CSR’. NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant will speak on ‘Innovative policies to enable disruption’, and popular actor Deepika Padukone will be in conversation with well-known journalist Shekhar Gupta on leveraging leadership and creating impact.
On Day 2, Kunal Shah, Founder & Chairman, FreeCharge, Aprameya Radhakrishna, Co-founder and CEO, TaxiForSure, and Karan Bhagat, (PGP 2001) MD and CEO, IIFLW, will speak on ‘Un-Tabooing of Wealth’. Former India cricketer Javagal Srinath and Joy Bhattacharyya, one of the men behind FIFA U17 World Cup, will discuss ‘Leading to win – Scaling Sports Management and Administration in India’. The event will conclude with a panel discussion on ‘Disrupting traditional business models’, featuring Shivakumar Ganesan, Co-founder, Exotel, and Arunachalam Murugananthan, social entrepreneur.
The December 17-18 weekend will bring the IIMB alumni back to Bangalore from across the world, rekindle memories, strengthen old connections and create new ones.
“IIMBue 2016 is expected to see participation from 1200 alumni,” said Convener of the event Navin Kumar (PGP 1999) and Founder and CEO, iPRIMED. This edition of the leadership summit, he explained, would have a dedicated session on theme-based networking. An IIMBue app has also been launched for registered delegates to connect even before the start of the event. “At this edition of IIMBue, you not only get a chance to listen to excellent speakers, but also have more opportunities to network,” added Navin.
Wishing IIMBue 2016 well, Professor R. Srinivasan, Director Incharge, IIM Bangalore, said: “Getting involved has always been the IIMB way. Ours is a close-knit community. But what’s even better is that our sense of community doesn’t end when diplomas are in hand. IIMBue is proof of that.”
