Mumbai: Texas Instruments (TI) in collaboration with Department of Science and Technology (DST) of Government of India has already announced the DST & Texas Instruments India Innovation Challenge Design Contest 2016.  The contest is open for all students pursuing B.E./B.Tech, M.E./M.Tech & Ph.D from Indian engineering colleges. The challenged is anchored by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore and supported by MyGov.

The last date for submission of application for the challenge is 30 September 2016. All student innovators, thinkers and makers of the country can participate the contest. Their  ideas can jump-start by sculpting the innovation with technical support from Texas Instruments, business mentorship and incubation from the best minds of the country – IIM Bangalore and seed funding of INR 2 Crores and product development fund of INR 1.5 crores from the Department of Science and Technology (DST).

This contest is for students from Indian engineering colleges who have a dream to create something new, aspire to make a difference and contribute to India’s success towards becoming an innovation hub. Key benefits for participating the contest are as followed: Design – innovative products with technical mentorship & resources from TI ; Incubate – with mentors from India’s smartest brains from IIM Bangalore;  Launch – The product with seed funding  from the Department of Science and Technology (DST).

As per the contest structure, all the teams who submit a proposal before September 30, 2016 will enter the qualifying round of the contest. The proposals will be reviewed as per Qualifying Round Judging criteria and the shortlisted teams will enter the quarterfinals of the contest. The shortlisted teams will be announced by November 15, 2016. Then there will be semi-finals. The finalists will be invited to Final Evaluation event in July of 2017. Select finalists will be provided direct mentorship from IIM Bangalore for Incubation.
