XLRI, FMS, MDI top non-IIM Business Schools in India

Pune: Xavier School of Management (XLRI), Jamshedpur has topped the non-IIMs India’s Best Business Schools – 2017 Ranking, first time launched by Dalal Street Investment Journal (DSIJ), India’s oldest investment fortnightly magazine. Faculty of Management Studies University of Delhi (FMS), New Delhi and Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon jointly grab the second position in the ranking list.

DSIJ informed that India’s Best Business Schools – 2017 Ranking list is prepared on various factors such as fees, placements, location, inclination towards entrepreneurship, development programmes, faculty education, average packages offered during placement drives, and the ability of the schools to engage students in research, etc.

However, the ranking list does not include institutions under the umbrella of the Indian Institute of Management (IIMs). The intention of the DSIJ Ranking is to access the B-schools other than IIMs. DSIJ informed that the Indian Institutes of Management still remain a top notch business school of the country.

SP Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR), Mumbai (3) and Department of Management Studies (IIT Delhi), Delhi (4) and Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Mumbai (4) and International Management Institute (IMI), New Delhi (5) and National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) (5) are in the top five B-School list. The other non-IIMs management schools who are in the top ten are as followed: Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi (6), and Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay (7), Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM) (8), Institute of Management Technology (IMT) (9), and Xavier Institute of Management (XIMB), Bhubaneswar (10).

Managing Director of DSIJ Pvt Ltd, Rajesh V Padode said, “Business Schools play a vital role in preparing our youngsters to take on the challenges waiting for them in the corporate world. Our current supplement on India’s Best Business Schools gives an insight into this space and guides the to be managers of tomorrow on the various school options they have and how they rank amongst themselves, as of today.”
