Exclusive by Rudra Narayan Sahoo, London: Pursuing Master in Business Administration (MBA) in premier business schools is a dream for international students those plan to advance their career in business leadership. To resolve students’ puzzle and dilemma in selecting B-Schools across the major regions of the world, the global higher education analysts QS Quacquarelli Symonds released the QS Global 250 Business Schools Report 2017 on 12 January 2017.
The 2017 report assess the world’s best business schools, which will guide the international study community. The analysis has classified business schools into four quadrants based on both employability and academic standards across all major world regions. These categories are as followed: Global Elite, Top-Tier Research, Mid-tier, and Superior. The Global Elite quadrant boasts of top ranked 45 Business Schools in the world while these MBA providers achieve exceptional scores for both Academic performance and graduate employability.
Harvard Business School (HBS) has emerged as North America’s best MBA provider based on both the employability of its graduates and its academic standards. The Wharton School ranks second regionally for academic performance, and third regionally for MBA graduate employability. The Graduate Business School at Stanford University stands second regionally for employability, and third regionally for academic performance.
In total, 22 North American schools feature in the Global Elite quadrant: Eighteen are American; four are Canadian.
London Business School leads business school once again in Europe, achieving an impressive score for both employability and academic performance. INSEAD of France ranks second for both indicators. HEC Paris grabs third place for graduate employability. The University of Cambridge’s Judge Business School follows LBS and INSEAD for academic standing.
In total, sixteen European institutions feature in the Global Elite quadrant. This group is comprised of business schools from France (3), Germany (1), Italy (1), the Netherlands (1), Spain (2), Switzerland (2), and the United Kingdom (6).
Meanwhile 42 business schools from the Asia-Pacific region are ranked in the QS Global 250 Business Schools Report 2017. Out of these 42 B-Schools from Asia-Pacific, 17 from Australia, 6 from China, 5 from both Hong Kong and India, 4 from Singapore, 2 from Japan, and one each from South Korea, Taiwan, and New Zealand. This region has five Global Elite institutions: two from Singapore, two from Australia, and one from India.
INSEAD’s Singaporean satellite campus leads the region for employability while it is followed by the AGSM MBA Programs (University of New South Wales) and Melbourne Business School (University of Melbourne).
The NUS Business School (National University of Singapore) is also the region’s best for academic performance while the Melbourne Business School stands second, while the AGSM MBA programs ranks third in this parameter.
IIM Ahmedabad has featured in the Global Elite quadrant, which lists 45 world-leading business schools, and becomes the country’s only business school to place in the prestigious group.
Two Latin American business schools are in the forty-five Global Elite schools list: EGADE Business School and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. The University of Cape Town GSB leads the Middle East & Africa region for both indicators (employability and academic performance).
In total, 107 of the 250 classified schools are from North America. 82 operate in Europe, 42 in the Asia-Pacific region, 10 in Latin America, and 9 in the Middle East & Africa. QS informed that the report analyses of 12,125 MBA employers and 8,376 academics specialising in Business & Management contributed to QS’s own analysis.
