New Delhi, 07 July 2018: In big developments in national competitive examinations, the National Testing Agency will start conducting next NEET, JEE (Mains) and UGC NET entrance exams, which are currently organised by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar today announced that  the UGC-National Eligibility Test (NET) will be conducted in December, while JEE (Mains) will be held in January and April, and NEET will  be held in February and May.

The Minister said “National Testing Agency -#NTA has started its work. It will conduct NEET(UG), JEE(Main), UGC-NET, CMAT & GPAT examinations. Millions of students to benefit.”

The main feature is that student will not lose one year because there will be two examinations before admission. He/She can appear in either of the two or both. The best score will be taken into account for the result.

The Union minister mentioned that all these exams would be computer-based and that students can practice at home or at authorised computer centres free of cost. The details of such centres would be announced soon.

Javadekar informed that the syllabus, question format, language and fees won’t change. Each exam will be conducted on four to five dates.

“These examinations will use highly secured IT software and encryption to ensure delivery of tests just in time. This will ensure no leakages and other malpractices,” a press release by the ministry said.

“NTA will set up a network of test practice centres for students of rural areas so that everyone will have an opportunity to practice before the exam. Schools/engineering colleges with computer centres would be identified and kept open on Saturday/Sunday starting from 3rd week of August. Any student can use the facility free of charge,” it added.

NTA will conduct UGC-NET in December 2018.
