New Delhi: The Google PhD Fellowship Program recognizes outstanding graduate students doing exceptional work in computer science, related disciplines, or promising research areas. Fellowship students are given funding to support them in their graduate studies. Google runs PhD Fellowship programs in several regions throughout the globe including US/Canada, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Australia, India, China and East Asia.

The 2018 program will open for applications in March 2018. The Google India PhD Fellowship program for 2017 is closed.

Eligibility Conditions: The fellowships are offered up to 4-years for PhD students in Computer Science and related areas. Applicants must be enrolled into a full-time PhD program at an Indian university.

Applications are also accepted from current Undergraduate or Masters students or Professionals. Grant of the fellowship to this category of applicants is contingent on them joining a full-time PhD program at an Indian university within the calendar year of the award.

Applications are accepted directly from students. There is no limit to the number of students who may apply from each university. Google employees and family members of Google employees are not eligible. Students who are already receiving another corporate fellowship are not eligible.

Google PhD Fellowships directly support graduate students globally as they pursue their PhD, as well as connect them to a Google Research Mentor. For 2017, four students from India bag Google PhD Fellowships.
