PhD Admission open in Sandip University, Nashik (SUN) for Academic Year 2018-2019

Mumbai, Nashik: Sandip University, Nashik has invited applications for admission to PhD Programme ‘Full-Time’ and ‘Part-Time’ scheme in the following Departments for calendar year 2018.

Eligibility criteria for admission to Ph.D. programme:

Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. Programme shall have a Master’s degree of a recognized University with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.

A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (with non-creamy layer)/NT/SBC/PwD.

Candidates who have cleared the M.Phil. Course work with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed and successfully completing the M.Phil. Degree. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (with non-creamy layer)/NT/SBC/PwD.

Duration of the Programme: Ph.D. programme shall be for a minimum duration of three years for full time and four years for part time, including course work and a maximum of {(n + 2) + 1*} years, where n is the minimum duration of the program.

PhD Selection Procedure:

The list of all eligible candidates who apply for Ph.D. programme will be displayed on the Institute website. The eligible candidates will be invited for the Written Test (SUN Ph.D. Entrance Test -SUNPET) at SUN Campus on 26th August 2018.

The written examination of SUNPET is in two stages as mentioned below:

Entrance Test Part – I shall consist of Research Methodology, the syllabus for the same is available in website. This will be common to all discipline.

Entrance Test Part – II shall be discipline specific, such as civil engineering, chemistry, law, physics …etc, the syllabus for each discipline is available in website.

Candidates with visual impairment will have to indicate the impairment in the application form. They will be provided with a scribe for the written test.

Candidates who have qualified M.Phil. UGC-NET, JRF, UGC-CSIR, SLET, GATE, CATetc are exempted from attending the SUNPET. However, they have to apply by filling the online application form alongwith the online payment of application fee and uploading the scanned attested copies of necessary documents. They have to appear for personal interview.

The candidates securing 50% marks on SUNPET (Average of Part-I & II) will be shortlisted for personal interview. The list of shortlisted candidates will be displayed on the SUN website by 03rd September 2018.

These shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for the personal interview to be conducted on 15th&16th September 2018where the candidates are required to discuss their research interest/area through a presentation before the RAC. The personal interview shall also consider the following aspects, viz. whether:

Research Fellowships: The full time candidates who have passed the NET/SLET/GATE/CLAT/CAT/UGC-CSIR etc or the SUNPET examination with with good percentage/percentile of marks and with good consistent academic record with excellent performance in personal interview may be considered for SUN Research Fellowship (SRF) which is Rs.16000 per month and contingency grantuptoRs.25000 per annum. The performance of research scholar, with fellowship shall be critically reviewed in every six monthsfor continuance of fellowship. The research scholar can also seek fellowship from other funding agencies such as UGC, CSIR, DBT, DST, ICMR, Industries, Research & Development Organizations etc.
