Bangalore: The Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore, a premier institute devoted to research in astronomy, astrophysics and related physics, has invited online applications for PhD and Integrated MTech-PhD programmes 2019.

IIA conducts the following two graduate programmes leading to Ph.D. degrees: (i) Ph.D., jointly with Pondicherry Central University, and (ii) Integrated M.Tech. – Ph.D., jointly with University of Calcutta.

Key Dates: The last date to apply online                is 21 October 2018. The Date of examination is 08 December  2018.

Eligibility Conditions: Applications are invited from highly motivated students who have completed the qualifying degrees OR expect to complete their degrees latest by June 2019, with a consistently good academic record (candidates should refer the Guidelines page for more information on the eligibility criteria).

Selection Procedure: Applications will be screened and short-listed candidates will have to write the IIA Screening Test (IIAST), which will be held on 08 December  2018 (Saturday) at the following 9 centres : 01 Bengaluru, 02 Bhubaneswar, 03 Chennai, 04 Cochin, 05 Delhi, 06 Guwahati, 07 Hyderabad, 08 Kolkatta, 09 Mumbai.

Candidates short-listed based on their performance in the IIAST will be called for personal interview in IIA, Bengaluru. Personal interviews for the Ph.D. programme will be held in the last week of December 2018, and that for the M.Tech-Ph.D. programme will be held during May 2019.
