Gandhinagar: IIT Gandhinagar, a premier engineering institute in India, is looking for PhD Scholars for various engineering, science and Humanities and Social Sciences subjects. IIT Gandhinagar offers PhD programmes in Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Cognitive Science, Computer Science and Engineering, Earth Sciences, Electrical Engineering, History, Language & Literature, Materials Science and Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Social Epidemiology and Sociology.

Under Semester I 2017-18, the institute mentioned that the total PhD intake capacity for the above disciplines is 115 seats. For Admission Window I, the online submission has already started from 13 January 2017 while it will end on 05 March 2017.  The web announcement of short-listed candidates for written test and/or interview is  scheduled on 15 March 2017. The Written test and/or interview will be held during 31 March 2017 to 03 April 2017.

For eligibility criteria by discipline wise, interested candidates should refer the PhD admission page of the official website of IIT Gandhinagar  (http://www.iitgn.ac.in/).

Financial Support: The institute informed that students joining the PhD program as regulars (RR) will be considered for Institute Fellowship based on the following norms:

(i) Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science with NET/GATE Qualification or Graduate Degree in Professional Courses (B.Tech/B.E.) with NET/GATE Qualification or Post Graduate Degree in Professional Courses (MTech/ME etc) : Rs. 25,000/- per month.

Qualifications mention at (i) above with two years of Research Experience: Rs. 28,000/- per month.

Admission Procedure: As per the PhD Admission notification, the institute will offer admission on the basis of an interview, which is supplemented by a written test if necessary. The Institute will invite a limited number of candidates for a written test and interview based on the academic records, statement of purpose, etc. The final selection will be primarily based on academic credentials, written test and/or interview.

How to Apply: As per the admission notification, all applications must be submitted online. If any candidate is applying for more than one discipline, he/she should submit separate application form for each discipline.  There is no application fee. Candidates need not to send the hard-copy of the application form.
