New Delhi: After considering demands from Research Scholars, fellowship benefits have been hiked. Ministry of Science & Technology in a statement said that the Junior Research Fellow (JRF) monthly stipend has been increased to Rs 31,000 while Senior Research Fellowship monthly stipend hiked to Rs 35,000.
The hike in research benefits will be effective from 01 January 2019. Here it can be mentioned that recently research scholars have been protesting for increasing the benefits.
Similarly, for Research Associates, monthly stipend has been enhanced. Now there will be three category for Research Associates: Research Associates- I, Research Associates –II, Research Associates – III. The monthly stipend will be: Rs 47,000 for Research Associates- I, Rs 49,000 for Research Associates –II, Rs 54,000 for Research Associates – III.
Earlier the JRF monthly stipend was Rs 25,000 and the SRF monthly stipend was 28,000 /-.
The Ministry of Science & Technology has implemented the revised Fellowship Benefits effective from 01 January 2019. The other agencies are expected to notify the hike in Fellowship amount very soon.
