Bangalore: Rupal Sethi, a scholar in the Information Systems area pursuing IIM Bangalore’s doctoral programme, the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM), has been awarded the Emerald India Best Paper Award out of nearly 200 papers in the Top Doctoral Student Papers category at the Fifth Pan IIM World Management Conference, held between December 14 and 16, at IIM Lucknow.

Rupal Sethi’s paper (co-authored with Professor B. Shekar) is titled Mining Negative Association Rules: An Affordance-based Substitution Approach and is an extract from her doctoral thesis. The award includes a plaque and a certificate.

Professor Rejie George Pallathitta, Chairperson, Fellow Programme in Management, IIMB, and faculty members of the Information Systems Area congratulated Rupal for her invaluable contribution. Her DAC chair Professor B. Shekar said that her work is a radical departure from the current conventional view existing in her field (Datamining). He added that her work examines many issues from a new angle and also lays the foundation to explore intriguing questions hitherto unanswered in the literature.

The Pan IIM World Management Conference is a premier forum for interaction among research scholars specializing in different areas of management and related disciplines. It is an annual event organized by IIMs and held at one of the IIMs. The conference includes presentations of ongoing and completed research carried out in India and abroad.
