The two-day NASSCOM HR Summit has comprehensively discussed and analyzed these emerging trends happening in the HR practices.
Commenting on automation and artificial intelligence (AI), Ashwini Asokan, CEO of Mad Street Den Systems Private Limited said that bots have already made entry in industries today and over the next 5-10 years will spread everywhere. “There is something called lived experience, which we discount when we talk about machines.” she added.
On the impact of technology, churning will take centre stage where high skilled jobs will rise, which require critical problem solving, analytics and critical thinking. “For the first time there’s a fear that technology is disrupting knowledge workers.”, said Mohandoss Thulasidoss, CAO-SVP – Chennai Site Head, Fidelity Business Services India Pvt Ltd. Sharing his thought on AI, he added that there are three trends emerging: computation is possible today, data is growing, algorithm is getting sophisticated.
Rejecting the speculation of job losses following AI, Umesh Sachdev, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Uniphore Software Systems Pvt. Ltd, pointed that most mass-production cars are built by bots and not by humans but that hasn’t lead to job losses. “No software can dictate the company’s culture.” Umesh said.
Speaking on leadership attitude during crisis, Suresh Narayanan, Chairman and Managing Director of Nestlé India Limited said, “The task of leadership is to open-up when we need to open-up. If you don’t have the energy to be a leader, please don’t be one.” Attitude is the most important thing in the face of crisis and leaders should possess that at any cost, he opined.
Big data helps to take the right decision basis the information that lies inside and outside the organisation. Some speakers focused on the changing hiring policy and open market for talents. They said that talent marketplace started behaving like a dating engine.
