New Delhi: The country has been going through difficult time due to nation-wide lockdown in view of the COVID-19 pandemic , which has also led to the closure of Higher Educational Institutes. To prevent a pause in learning amongst student , the UGC has shared with Universities & collage the link of various ICT initiatives of Ministry of HRD & UGC including the MOOCs being offered on the SWAYAM platform (www.swayam.gov.in) of Government of India.
Now Under Graduate-Post Graduate Non-engineering MOOCs Courses will be offered on SWAYAM, from July 2020.
In the prevailing COVID-19 scenario, Universities & Collage are encouraged to make the optimum use of the SWAYAM online platform for the benefit of the student . The list of 82 Under Graduate & 42 Post Graduate MOOCs courses, which are approved by the SWAYAM Board and ready to the offered in July semester 2020 is enclosed and may also be seen at SWAYAM Portal at:
Since the lockdown period ,23rd march 2020 onwards ,SWAYAM , which houses a repository of 1990 course , has been accessed by 50 thousand learners ,which is over and above the 25 lakh student / learners who are already enrolled in the January 2020 semester of SWAYAM.
The SWAYAM Course may be approved and adopted through the SWAYAM Platform by the vice Chancellor on the recommendation of Dean Academics/ Heads of Department of your University for credit transfer and ratified by the academics Council.
The SWAYAM Examination for the Postgraduate and Undergraduate SWAYAM Courses for July -2020 semester to be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NAT) are scheduled for 14th 15th November-2020 . you are Requested to factor in these dates while fixing your university /institution examination calendar to avoid any clash of dates.
The faculty from universities and collage may also be encouraged to submit their expression of interest for developing Non- Technology UG & PG Courses to the Consortium for Educational communication (CEC), an inter university Centre of UGC ,Which is now yhe National coordinator fo the non –Technology UG and PG MOOCs Courses offered on the SWAYAM Platform . The faculty Member indentified as SWAYAM Coordinators and Mentors are requested to follow the Operational Guideline for SWAYAM Coordinators /Mentors (notified on 28.02.2020) available at-http:-www.ugc.ac.in/ugc_notice.aspx?id=Mjc1Nw.
The Universities and Collage are requested to popularize these SWAYAM courses among Students & Faculty in your respective Universities and Collage through your website and various social media handles.
