New Delhi, 27 September 2020: The University Grants Commission (UGC), the regulator for Higher Education, will release New Guidelines for Good Academic Research Practices on 29 September 2020 (Tuesday). The comprehensive guidelines will act as benchmark for academic research activities in India.
The guideline will spell out the various measures and mechanism how to improve the standard of academic research work. The new guideline is expected to highlight the roles of students pursuing research degrees (PhD, MPhil, Post Graduate, etc), supervisors, academicians, plagiarism check, research ethics, etc.
To check plagiarism, the UGC has already plagiarism Regulations known as (Promotion of Academic Integrity and Prevention of Plagiarism in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2018.
Last Year, the UGC has introduced two Credit-based courses which is mandatory for all PhD students for pre-registration course work. This course is known as Research and Publication Ethics (RPE).
The UGC’s new New Guidelines for Good Academic Research Practices will finitely strengthen Academic Research activities and standardize the Research degrees program.
