New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC), the Higher Education Regulator, has granted a further extension of six months for submitting thesis by final term MPhil or PhD students.

For final term MPhil or PhD students, who were supposed to submit their thesis or dissertation by 31 December 2020, can submit these thesis papers by 30 June 2021. The UGC has also clarified that the extension of six months is applicable for submitting evidence of publication and presentation in two conferences .

However, the tenure of fellowships of MPhi/PhD will the same (5 Years), added the UGC.

Due to COVID 19 pandemic, the students have not been able to access laboratories and libraries as most of the colleges and universities remain closed.  Students have faced difficult times in completing their research works.

Now students of final term MPhil or PhD can submit their dissertations by 30 June 2021. The earlier deadline was 31 December 2020.
