Gandhinagar, 15 December 2020: Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DA-IICT), Gandhinagar has invited online applications from eligible candidates for PhD programmes for Winter Session 2020-21.  Teaching Assistantship (TA)/Research Assistantships (RAs)  is offered to Full Time PhD Scholars. Considering COVID 19, selection will be held through Online Proctored Entrance Examination.

Research Areas at DA-IICT:  Information and Communication Technology (ICT) & allied disciplines, Mathematical & Computational Sciences (Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Computational Science), Humanities & Social Sciences (English, History, Anthropology, Comparative Literature, Philosophy and Design).

PhD Programmes are also available for Sponsored candidates.

Key Dates & Application: The closing date for submission of online application is 31 December 2020.

Entrance Examination for Candidates not called for direct interview (tentative) –               06 January 2021.

Date of Interview (tentative) – 07 January 2021.

Commencement of classes – 11 January 2021

 The Application fee (non-refundable) is Rs. 1200/- (Rupees One thousand two hundred only) plus GST@18%.

Selection Procedure:

Shortlisting will be based on an online proctored entrance test and the selection will be on the basis of a personal interview.

In some subjects and cases, Direct Interview will be applicable for candidates with valid JRF/DST Inspire/PM scholarship/Visvesvaraya PhD scheme at the time of application.

The interview will happen via a video conferencing mode either through Skype or Google Hangout/Meet.

Financial assistance: The following is a summary of financial assistance provided by the institute to the non-sponsored category students.

DA-IICT fellowship: All those admitted as full-time PhD students will be eligible for financial support in the form of Teaching Assistantship (TA)/Research Assistantships (RAs). The assistantship is Rs. 21,000/- per month till the end of the semester in which the candidate clears the comprehensive examination. For the subsequent period, for candidates with B Tech/M Sc degree the assistantship gets revised to Rs. 25,000/- per month, and for candidates with M Tech/M Phil degree the assistantship gets revised to Rs. 28,000/- per month.   The fellowship is for a maximum duration of four years after passing the comprehensive examination or clearing of Synopsis, whichever is earlier.

TCS Research Fellowship: The Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has recognized DA-IICT as one of the Institutions to administer the TCS Research Scholar Program. This prestigious program provides attractive doctoral fellowships to full-time students pursuing PhD programs in selected areas. Rs. 41,000/- per month for the first two years and Rs. 45,000/- per month for the next two years.
