New Delhi: Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) is a national level entrance exam conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) every year as per the directions of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. On the basis of performance in GPAT, AITCTE approved institutions select suitable Pharmacy graduates for admission into their Master’s (MPharm) program. The GPAT is a three hour computer based online test which is conducted in a single session.
The GPAT score is accepted by all AICTE-Approved Institutions/University Departments/Constituent Colleges/Affiliated Colleges. Further, GPAT assumes more significance as few scholarships and other financial assistance in the field of Pharmacy are also given on the basis of the GPAT score. The GPAT 2017 will be conducted on 28th January, 2017. 29th January 2017 is a reserved day. The closing date for applying GPAT 2017 is 10 December 2016. Admission into MPharm Program: A national merit ranking is being published based on the Score of the candidate while the qualifying score has been based on self declared category by the candidate. AICTE approved institutes select the suitable candidates for admission into MPharm courses.
Research Scholars admission: The selection of candidates for scholarship in MPharmacy course is done on the basis of GPAT score card. Further, after completing MPharm Degree if someone is interested in getting registered for PhD degree and availing National Doctoral Scholarship, performance in GPAT is considered for the basis of selection for this purpose.
Validity of scorecard: The Scorecard is valid only for one year for the purpose of obtaining admission into MPharm couse is one year. Further, for admission into scholarship in MPharmacy course, the validity of the GPAT scorecard is one year while availing National Doctoral Scholarship validity of GPAT score card is three years.
Eligibility: Candidates must hold Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (4 years after 10+2, including lateral entry candidates). Those who are in the final year of B Pharmacy course are also eligible for appearing in GPAT exam.
Exam pattern: There will be 125 questions while total duration of test is three hours. For each correct answer there are 4 marks, hence total marks is 500. Meanwhile, there is negative marking in GPAT exam, for each wrong answer 1 mark shall be deducted. As of now, there is no age restriction for appearing in GPAT.
GPAT will be conducted once a year since 2017. Earlier it was conducted twice a year. The test will be conducted on 28 January 2017. 29th January 2017 is a reserved day. The closing date for online submission of application for GPAT 2017 is 10 December 2016.
