Mumbai, 24 March 2022: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, an Institute of National Importance, has announced already PhD Admission for Autumn Semester 2022-23. Regular PhD students will be eligible for Research Assistantship (RA) and Teaching Assistantship (TA) [Financial support as per MHRD norm].
For the Academic Year 2022-23, IIT Bombay has announced the sanctioned strength for PhD Programme. The total PhD Intake capacity for AY 2022-23 is 445 as compared to 431 in the previous years.
Hence, IIT Bombay will admit 445 PhD Scholars in AY 2022-23 through two Admission Semesters.

Research Assistantship (RA): A candidate, selected for the Ph.D. Programme, at IIT Bombay will be eligible for the financial support under the RA category subject to the fulfilment of criteria.
The assistantship is payable for a maximum duration of 5 years or up to the thesis submission, whichever is earlier. The monthly rate of assistantship is Rs. 35,000/ for the first 2 years and enhanced rate of Rs. 39,000/ for the remaining period.
