Mumbai:  Year 2016 has ended.  New hopes have surfaced while we are entering 2017. What are job opportunities are stored for 2017? This is a billion dollar question. Among states, Maharashtra is set to become the most preferred state for hiring, according to hiring intent survey, a part of India Skills Report 2017.

After Maharashtra, the most promising hiring prospects loom in Delhi (second), Karnataka (third )and Tamil Nadu (fourth).  For BFSI employers, the most promising land for hiring is Maharashtra, which is the hub of financial capital. On the other hand, Karnataka, software and IT sector companies vote for Karnataka as the destination for talent.

Andhra Pradesh bags fifth position in the hiring prospects for 2017 while Haryana finds sixth place. For employers of healthcare and pharma sector, Gujarat and Maharashtra are the leading destination for recruitment.

The other leading states in hiring prospects are as followed: Gujarat (seventh), Telengana (eight), West Bengal (ninth), and Uttar Pradesh (tenth). Companies in Core sectors (Oil & gas, power, steel, minerals, etc.) prefer Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh as the suitable hunting ground for talents.

The hiring intent survey has provided another insight to the most skill sets demanded by employers in India. The survey revealed that the top four demanding skills are domain expertise, communication skills, integrity & values, and learning agility.

India Skills Report 2017 is a joint initiative by PeopleStrong, a leading HR solutions and HR Technology company in India, and Wheebox, a Global Talent Assessment Company, in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The report covered 5.6 lakh students across 29 states  and 7 union territories and 125 employers. This is the fourth edition of annual research report.
