Jammu – The inauguration of the “Management Development Programme” on “The Art of Thinking Clearly and Deciding Effectively”’ for Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL)” commenced at the Srinagar Off-Campus of the Indian Institute of Management Jammu. The programme seeks to enhance the skills and competencies of the working professionals at PGCIL, empowering them to lead in the dynamic power sector landscape and develop clarity in thought, and make effective decisions. The management development program is a three-day program from August 23 to 25, 2023. The event commenced with the lamp-lighting ceremony by the dignitaries.

Dr. Nitin Upadhyay, the Programme Director, in his welcome address, mentioned that the programme is aimed to increase the knowledge and awareness of the business situation and skill ecosystem among the administrative staff. The above programme will expose the administrative staff to the art of management and help them understand the basic concepts of thinking and equip them with the needed tools and strategies for effective decision-making.

Dr. Muqbil Burhan, Chairperson of Executive Education & Consultancy (EE&C) and Srinagar off-Campus gave an overview of the Executive Education at IIM Jammu. The MDP, designed by IIM Jammu in consultation with industry experts, is a comprehensive initiative, exclusively tailored for professionals at PGCIL, that seeks to address the challenges and opportunities within the power sector landscape.

Joining online, Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu, gave an overview of the journey of IIM Jammu and mentioned the various programmes offered at IIM Jammu. He mentioned with professional environments becoming more and more complex in structures in organizations, the workforce of the 21st Century is required to up their skills to the dynamic professional environment. To address these concerns, the tailormade programme from IIM Jammu is sure to cater to the growing demands in the skill ecosystem.

In his address, Shri Vinod Prakash Baxla, General Manager (HR) and Head of Personnel, Northern Region-2, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), reiterated that investing in the development of our workforce is one of the core values of PGCIL, and our collaboration with IIM Jammu is a step toward fulfilling this goal, and we are confident that the program will significantly add to the growth of our employees.

Shri Rajesh Kumar, Executive Director, North Region-2, PGCL, highlighted that well-trained and efficient managers can optimize resources enhance decision-making, implement cost-saving measures, and drive revenue growth. He further added that the above programme from IIM Jammu will equip the participants from Power Grid with the skills needed to develop and cultivate the art of thinking clearly and deciding effectively for improved profitability and sustainable financial success.

Dr. Gaana J., the Programme Director, proposed the vote of thanks. She further mentioned that the programme is expected to improve the capabilities of the professionals at PGCIL to cater to the needs of the dynamic business environment.

The event culminated with the National Anthem followed by a Group Photo with the PGCIL participants. Present on the occasion was Dr. Pratik Maheshwari, Co-Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy, IIM Jammu. The event was coordinated by Shri Nadeem Younus Zargar, Administrative Officer, and Shri Pardeep Saini, Assistant Administrative Officer, Executive Education and Consultancy, IIM Jammu.
