Bangalore:  Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore India’s top ranked university and the world’s 8th ranked small universities by THE, has extended the closing date for submission of online application for the admission session 2017-18 to 29 March 2017. Earlier the last date for submission of online application was 24 March 2017.

Admissions are open at IISc now on the following programmes for the academic year:  M Tech programme, MDes programme, M Mgt programme, M Tech programme (sponsored from ISRO; NAL; BARC; etc), M Tech programme, PhD (Integrated) programme, and Research programmes – M Tech / M Des / M Mgt (Regular and Sponsored), and PhD/MTech(Research).  The classes will commence on all its programmes form 01 August 2017.

At IISc Bangalore, the students pursuing research degree represent more than 70% of the student body, the largest group on the campus.  The Institute awards about 250 PhD and M Tech (Research) degrees, every year.

Eligible candidates can apply for doctoral degree (PhD regular) in 38 subject areas including Instrumentation and Applied Physics, Biosystems Science and Engineering, Energy, Mathematical Sciences, Nanoscience and Engineering, Cyber Physical Systems, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, Earth Sciences, Chemical Engineering , Materials Engineering, Astronomy and Astrophysics, Mathematics, Physics, Computational and Data Sciences – Computational Science , etc. Further, research opportunities in subject areas of Biochemistry, Molecular Reproduction; Development and Genetics, Ecological Sciences, Organic Chemistry, State and Structural Chemistry and others are available.

Scholarship offered to Research scholars:  IISc Bangalore offers scholarships to candidates from the date of their joining. For PhD candidates a total of Rs 25000/28000 (JRF/SRF) per month is offered. For Integrated PhD programs, a total amount of Rs 16000/25000/28000 per month (Master degree/JRF/SRF) is offered to candidates.

IISc Bangalore informed that after extension of last date, the online submission of application will now end on 29 March 2017.
