Prof. Jain said that convocation marks an important occasion of transitioning from a student to an alumnus. “Students receiving their degree at the convocation cherish that moment throughout their lives. BHU students and alumni in particular share a very special bond with the university. This is because we at BHU not only teach and nurture values and ethics, but also practice it, being part of the BHU family”, he added. The Vice-Chancellor called upon the alumni of BHU to be part of the growth story of the varsity by actively associating with the university. He appealed to the graduating students as well as the alumni to join BHU’s alumni portal www.alumni.bhu.in.
The Vice-Chancellor also informed that the 104th convocation is going to be special in terms of the degrees the university will be conferring this time. He said, “We are introducing a verification system for degrees under which Quick Response (QR) code will be featured on them, allowing employers and educational institutions to perform instant verifications.” The QR code will contain identification information about the students, such as their name, enrollment number, course or stream etc. Furthermore, photocopies of the degree will be marked as “COPY”, preventing unauthorized duplication. The introduction of the safety features in degrees marks a major headway towards integrating digital technologies in the functioning of the university.
