New Delhi : Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-Delhi) has successfully organised a special “Plantation of Sandalwood Trees” campaign for environmental sustainability across its campus. The institution has always been committed to a biodiverse future, making this initiative a significant factor in promoting a green ecosystem across the academic community.

The plantation of sandalwood saplings, known for their natural importance and aromatic properties, transformed the campus grounds. Prof. G.P.S. Raghava (Director) and Dr. Deepika Bhaskar (Registrar), the senior leadership, supervised this initiative from beginning to end. Furthermore, the dedicated staff members also gathered to contribute to the institute’s legacy of sustainable environmental practices.

With this campaign, IIIT-Delhi proved how educational institutions have a responsibility to address critical environmental challenges to make a significant change. It displayed that technological advancement and environmental responsibility can coexist by combining green projects with campus activities. The institute’s goal in introducing this activity is to promote biodiversity by supporting a more diverse ecosystem. This campaign strengthens sustainability by minimising carbon footprints and establishing a more natural atmosphere.

The plantation drive reinforced the significance of shared responsibility for protecting the environment, with the collective efforts of the members of the institute. This initiative further inspires the students to adopt sustainable practices in real life and carry the values of environmental stewardship beyond the campus grounds.
