New Delhi: The admission session for PhD July-August is coming to an end. Prominent universities have almost finished their admission formalities for the current session. Still there few universities who have just initiated the admission process where application window is still open. The candidates or PhD aspirants may get an update and take a stand on applying these universities for PhD programmes.
There are more than 8 universities where PhD admissions are open: IGNOU; Alagappa University, Tamil Nadu; GD Goenka University, Gurgaon; NIT Hamirpur (HP); Central University of Himachal Pradesh; NIMS University, Jaipur; North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong; and Swami Vivekanand Subharti University (SVSU), Meerut.
Central University of Himachal Pradesh has notified PhD admission for 120 seats. The closing date for submission of PhD application is 31 July 2017. North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong has notified that PhD admissions are available in 24 departments. The closing date for submission of applications is 16 August 2017.
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), a Mega University with highest student enrolment in the world, has already notified admission notification for PhD/MPhil programmes (Regular Mode) July 2017 session. For the upcoming session, PhD programmes are available in 12 subjects and MPhil courses are available in two subjects. The closing date for submission of online application is 31 July 2017.
PhD programmes will be offered for July 2017 session by the IGNOU in the following disciplines: Geology, French, Geography, Journalism & Mass Communication, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Gender and Development Studies, Theatre Arts, Biochemistry, Women’s Studies, and Fine Arts. Meanwhile, MPhil programmes are offered for July 2017 session in Chemistry and Geography.

NIMS University, Jaipur, a leading private university, has also invited applications for PhD programmes. Here, a total of 186 seats are available for PhD programmes. The closing date for submission of applications is 16 August 2017. At NIMS University, Jaipur, doctoral programmes admission process is open in 25 departments.
PhD admissions are also going on at NIT Hamirpur (HP). The closing date for submission of online application is extended to 27 July 2017. Here PhD programmes are available in the following departments: Architecture (Arch); Civil Engineering (CE); Computer Science & Engineering (CSE); Electronics & Communication Engineering (E&CE); Electrical Engineering (EE); Mechanical Engineering (ME); Chemistry (CHEM); Physics (PHY); Mathematics (MATH); Management & Humanities (M&H); Centre for Energy and Environmental Engineering (CEEE); Centre for Material Science & Engineering (CMSE); and Chemical Engineering.
Further, application window is open for PhD programmes in GD Goenka University , Gurgaon and Swami Vivekanand Subharti University (SVSU), Meerut.
The next UGC-NET for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) & Eligibility for Assistant Professor will be held 05 November, 2017 (Sunday). The candidates are required to apply online from 01 August 2017. The last date for applying online is 30 August 2017 and fee can be paid up to 31 August, 2017.
