Kanpur: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has invited online application from eligible SC, ST, OBC and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) (VH, OH, HH) candidates under Special Recruitment Drive for the post of Assistant Professor in various departments. The closing date for submission of application is 22 August 2017.
The vacancies exit in the following departments: Departments of Aerospace Engineering, Biological Sciences & Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Earth Sciences, Economic Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, Industrial and Management Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics, Chemistry, and Physics.
Minimum Qualification: The candidates must have PhD with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades) at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch, with a very good academic record throughout.
Assistant Professor: Minimum three years Industrial/Research/Teaching experience, excluding however, the experience gained while pursuing PhD
For a fresh PhD, the position will be Assistant Professor (on contract) for the first three years and will be regularized afterwards. For those with three or more years of teaching/research/industrial experience, regular appointment may be offered.

IIT Kanpur has also informed through the recruitment notification that applicants who do not fulfill the minimum experience requirements may be offered an appointment on contract. The requirements of minimum qualification and/or experience may be relaxed in the case of candidates with outstanding credentials.
As this is the Special Recruitment Drive for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PwD candidates, the reservation at entry level will be applicable as per Govt of India norms. The candidates are required to submit the Caste/ Category/ Disabilities Certificate issued by the Competent Authority in the format prescribed by the Government of India for this purpose. IIT Kanpur follows the Central list in the case of SC/ST, OBCs & PwD.
