National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur (NIT) is an Institution of National Importance under the National Institutes of Technology Act 2007. There are 123 vacant posts for Assistant Professor Posts (PB-3 (Rs. 15,600 – 39,100) with AGP Rs. 6000/7000/8000). The recruitment of non-faculty staff members include Deputy Registrar, Assistant Registrar, Senior Medical Officer, Medical Officer, Security Officer and Accountant.

Assistant Professor (on contract) Pay Band-3 with Grade Pay of Rs.7000: Education – PhD; Experience : One year post PhD experience of Teaching and Research in Institution of repute or Industry; Credit Points: 10
Assistant Professor Pay Band-3 with Grade Pay of Rs.8000 with a minimum pay of Rs. 30000: Education – PhD; Experience : three year after PhD or six year total teaching and research experience in reputed academic Institute or Research and Development Labs or relevant industry.; Credit Points: 20
A Regular Assistant Professor with AGP of Rs. 6,000/-, if selected to the Assistant Professor with AGP Rs. 7,000/- shall be designated as Assistant Professor without appending on “Contract”.
