Admissions open for PhD, MPhil-PhD, PG, UG programmes in Central University of Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Central University of Gujarat, a central university based in Gandhinagar, has released official admission notification for academic year 2017-18. The Central University of Gujarat is conducting Online Entrance Test-2017 for admission to PG Diploma, Under Graduate, Post Graduate, B.Voc, PhD and MPhil-PhD Programmes offered by different Schools and Centres.

The online application window has started from 29 Jan 2017. The closing date for submission of application is 19 June 2017. CUG will conduct all India entrance test on 09 July 2017 (Sunday). The test will be conducted in 35 cities across India.

Applying for more than one academic programme: Candidates can apply for a maximum of three programmes in the same application form provided they are eligible. Candidates, however, should check the Entrance Test Schedule and ensure that there is no clash in times in the programmes opted for.

Eligibility for MPhil-PhD Programmes:

Candidates for admission to the Integrated M.Phil.-Ph.D. programme shall have a Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency.

A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC(non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991.

Candidates appearing in the final year of qualifying examinations may also apply. However, they would need to produce relevant documents at the time of admission.

Candidates who have cleared UGC NET/ CSIR/JRF examinations are also required to apply online for admission to relevant courses in the University. However, they are exempted from appearing for the entrance test. They would be called directly for the interview.

Candidates for admission to the PhD programme shall have a Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency.

Phil. programme with course work recognised by the U.G.C., as per the UGC Regulations (Minimum Standards and Procedure for award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree, 2009), shall be exempted from the written test. However, they are also required to apply online for admission to relevant courses in the University.

Candidates who have cleared UGC NET/ CSIR/JRF examinations are also required to apply online for admission to relevant courses in the University. However, they are exempted from appearing for the entrance test. They would be called directly for the interview.
