New Delhi, 10 October 2020: All the 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have hiked the seat capacity by 20% to 16,053 for the Academic Year (BTech Programmes) 2020-21. A total of 43,204 candidates have qualified JEE (Advanced) 2020. Registration portal has opened for Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2020 counseling since 06 October 2020.

IIT Kharagpur offers the highest number of seats for BTech Courses for AY 2020-21 with total intake of 1902 seats . IIT (BHU) Varanasi has seat capacity of 1589 seats, the second highest seat capacity among IITs. IIT Bombay will admit 1360 students under all BTech courses for AY2020-21 through the counseling process of JoSAA.

IIT Roorkee offers 1353 seats for BTech courses for 2020-21 while IIT Delhi has seat capacity of 1209 seats for 202021.

Out of these 16,053 seats in IITs, 1583 seats for Female Supernumerary. Last Academic Year, the total intake capacity of IITs in all BTech Programmes was 13,376. This year, IITs are offering 16,053 seats, more than 2,677 seats compared to previous year.

IIT Delhi has launched two new BTech courses  from 2020-21 – B.Tech in Engineering & Computational Mechanics and B.Tech in Materials Engineering.

JoSAA 2020 will open for online registration for the eligible candidates from 06 October 2020. The Results of the First Round of Seat Allocation will be declared on 17 October 2020.
