New Delhi, 10 October 2020: In India there are 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). These Institutes of National Importance offer PhD programmes with Institutional Fellowships through two Admission Sessions in a year. January 2021 session for PhD Admission has commenced as Six IITs have opened their PhD Admission.
As on 10 October 2020, there are Six IITs have released PhD Admission notification for January 2021 session.
Among IITs, IIT Bombay has opened PhD Admission for 249 seats with Teaching Assistantships.
IIT Madras released PhD Admission for InterDisciplinary Research Program November 2020. IIT Ropar, IIT Gandhinagar and IIT Indore have also released PhD Admission Notification. IIT Jodhpur has announced PhD Admission for Mathematics department for October 2020.
IIT Palakkad had opened PhD Admission for December 2020 Semester. Now the application portal is closed.

Decoding Eligibility for IIT Bombay PhD Admission for 249 Seats with Fellowships
The online application portal has opened from 21 September 2020. The closing date for submission of application is 26 October 2020. Orientation and Registration Programme will begin from 4 & 5 January 2021.
Selection Process: The final selection process to Ph.D. programme to any Departments / Centres / Schools / Interdisciplinary Groups at IIT Bombay will be through written test and/or interview as specified by individual Department / Centre / Schools / Interdisciplinary Groups.
Regular(RR) and Continuing Doctoral Programme (CDP) are available. IIT Gandhinagar informed that in view of the current COVID 19 situation, for 2020-21 Sem II, admission will be offered based on online interviews only.
