Mumbai, 09 Aug 2020: The application registration and exam schedule of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2021 have been announced.  The application registration portal will open from 14 September 2020.

GATE Exam is one of toughest competitive tests in India as nearly 8-10 lakh candidates apply for the test. On an average, 16-18% of the appeared candidates qualify for the test. The pass rate or percent of candidates qualified out of total candidates appeared the test in GATE 2020 was 18.80%.

IIT Delhi, the organizing institute of GATE 2020, informed that more than 8.58 lakh candidates registered Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2020 Exam.  A total of 6.85 Lakh, 79.76% of registered candidates, appeared in eight sessions at 566 centres across 199 cities. Out of 6.85 Lakh candidates, nearly 18.8% have qualified in GATE 2020.

IIT Madras was the organizing institute of GATE 2019. The qualifying rate was 18.28%. The total No of Candidates Registered were 9,27,616. The total no of candidates appeared for the test were 7,70,681. The no of candidates qualified for the test stood at 14,095. Hence, the pass rate was 18.28%.

With inclusion of two more subjects – Environmental Science and Humanities & Social Sciences , and relaxation in eligibility norms – allowing third year under graduate students to appear the test,  this year GATE may see a higher number of candidates registering.

New Eligibility Criteria for GATE 2021: A candidate who is currently studying in 3rd or higher years of any undergraduate degree program OR has already completed any government approved degree program in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts.
