Bangalore:  Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) Bengaluru has released Admission Notification 2020 for PhD, Masters in Chemistry and Integrated PhD Programs.

List of Research Units where PhD Programes Offered:

  • Chemistry & Physics of Materials
  • Engineering Mechanics
  • Evolutionary & Organismal Biology
  • Molecular Biology and Genetics
  • New Chemistry
  • Neuro Sciences Unit
  • Theoretical Sciences Unit

Scholarships: All the regular students (except Masters in Chemistry) joining JNCASR are eligible for a scholarship from JNCASR/ CSIR / UGC/ ICMR / DBT /INSPIRE depending upon their mode of entry.

Eligibility Conditions for PhD: Candidates with an M Sc., B E, B Tech, M E, M Tech or MBBS./MD are eligible to apply. They should have at least 50% in their highest University examination, and should also have qualified in the GATE / JEST /GPAT or UGC -/ CSIR – NET-JRF/ / ICMR – JRF / DBT-JRF/ INSPIRE-JRF. The award certificate of such test should have the validity period for seeking admission to research programme as on 1st August 2020. Generally ME/M.Tech students are required to qualify one of the exams mentioned above, however exceptional candidates without these exams may also be considered.

Selection Process for PhD: Candidates will be short-listed for an interview based on their overall performance and scores in the National Entrance Test or the qualifying degree for ME/M.Tech. The selection is based on the performance in the interview (in some units, a short-written test will precede the interview).

Masters in Chemistry (Two Year Programme):

Eligibility:

  1. a) Applicants possessing a minimum of 55% marks at the B.Sc level.
  2. b) Those appearing in the final examination of their Bachelor’s degree this year.
  3. c) Candidates who have qualified the Joint Admissions Test for Masters (JAM).

Eligibility for Integrated PhD Programme:

Materials Sciences

  • Students with minimum of 55% marks at Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science with sound knowledge in the fundamentals of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • Candidates who have qualified the JAM 2020 written test (for Master’s) are encouraged to apply

Chemical Science

  • Students with minimum of 55% marks at Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science with Chemistry as a major and mathematics as a subject at least up to PUC (10+2 level).
  • Candidates who have qualified the JAM 2020 written test (for Master’s) are encouraged to apply

Biological Science

  • Students with minimum of 55% marks at Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science can apply
  • Candidates who have qualified the JAM 2020 written test (for Master’s) are encouraged to apply

Key Dates:

Website opens for on-line submission of applications from 28 February 2020.

Last date for submission of applications online (website closes at 23:59 hours on 13 April 2020).
