New Delhi: National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM), New Delhi, a deemed university operating under Ministry of Food Processing Industries, has released official admission notification for the academic year 2020-21. The various programmes – BTech, MTech, MBA and PhD are offered for AY 2020-21.

For BTech programme in Food Technology and Management, total number seats are 169.

MTech Programmes Details:

MTech programmes are offered in five departments: M.Tech in Food Technology and Management (FTM);  M.Tech in Food Process Engineering and Management (FPEM); M.Tech in Food Plant Operations and Management (FPOM); M.Tech in Food Safety and Quality Management (FSQM); and M.Tech in Food Supply Chain Management (FSCM). Each department has 16 seats in MTech programmes. Hence, total seats is 80 under various MTech Programmes.

The Admission to M. Tech programme will be based on valid GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering) score. Merit list will be prepared based on valid GATE score only. The merit list will be displayed on the NIFTEM website. In case two candidates will have same GATE score then the bachelor degree marks will be considered for merit list for those candidates. After the admission of eligible GATE qualified candidates, the remaining seats, if any, will be filled by Non-GATE candidates. The Non-GATE candidates would require to qualify the common entrance exam to be conducted by NIFTEM at NIFTEM Campus Kundli/ or *Online.

Key Dates: The online application opens from 11 June 2020(Thu) to 15 July 2020 (Wed).

Counselling for MTech (GATE) admissions – 24 July 2020 (Fri) to 10 August 2020 (Mon)

The MBA programme in Food & Agri-Business Management is a unique two-year full time degree programme. There are 30 seats available for MBA degree. The selection procedure to MBA Programme is based on last two years’ score of CAT/MAT and an Internal-Test for Non-CAT/MAT category applicants. The final selection of shortlisted candidates will be made on the basis of GD/PI, past academic performance, and work experience.

SC/ST – Rs 500

General & Other Categories – Rs 1000

PhD Programmes: NIFTEM offers PhD programmes in the following departments and areas: Agriculture and Environmental Sciences – 6 seats; Basic and Applied Sciences -07; Food Business Management (FBM)- 6; Food Engineering (FE)- 5; Food Science and Technology (FST) -6. Under PhD programmes there are 30 seats available for admission. Further, there are another 4 seats available for foreign students including one student from South East Countries & Indian worker in Gulf countries.

Selection Process for PhD: Selection & Mode of Programme: Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/ICAR-NET (including JRF/SRF)/Other JRF holding candidates, shall be exempted from Research Entrance Test (RET) in line with clause 5.1 of UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Awards of M. Phil and PhD Degrees) Regulations 2016. Other candidates (including part time) will have to appear for RET. DST (INSPIRE) candidates would be allowed to appear in the interview directly. In case DST INSPIRE candidate gets selected, he/she should produce confirmation of fellowship from DST failing which his/her admission will be cancelled

JRF/SRF candidates already working in the externally funded projects of the NIFTEM can be enrolled as PhD students provided they qualify RET and interview. Such candidates will get fellowship/JRF from the project till the end of the project. After project is finished, such candidates will get NIFTEM PhD fellowship, provided he/she has secured NIFTEM PhD fellowship at the time of admission 2020 as well as it will be as per NIFTEM PhD regulations.

Due to prevailing COVID-19 circumstances, RET and Interview can be conducted by NIFTEM either online/offline (Details to be uploaded on NIFTEM website).

Both NET (including JRF) qualified and RET qualified candidates will appear for interview /presentation where the candidates would be required to discuss their research areas/interest before the interview panel.

Research Entrance Test  (online/offline mode) 28 July 2020

Scholarships & Financial Support for PhD Programmes:  Only 02 candidates per department will get NIFTEM PhD fellowship based on merit for the year 2020-21. Part Time candidates will NOT get NIFTEM PhD fellowship. Fellowship would be extended beyond 3rd year as per NIFTEM PhD regulations.
