New Delhi: National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), a public institute of fashion design, management and technology education in India, invites applications for doctoral programme at its Head Office in Delhi.

The programme is in recognition of high academic achievements, independent research and application of knowledge in the areas of Design, Management and Technology as applied with reference to textile, fashion, lifestyle, apparel, craft and any other related field. Interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary research will also be encouraged.

Key Dates: Submission of Online Application starts from 03 February 2020

Submission of Application forms on or before 02 February 2020

Written Test –  19 April 2020

Written test and Research Proposal presentation & Interview will be held in New Delhi.

Types of PhD: Both Full Time PhD Scholars and Part Time PhD Scholars Categories admission available.

Full Time PhD Scholars:

  1. NIFT Teaching Fellowship
  2. Sponsored by Public Sector Undertaking/a Government Department/Research/Development Organization/or a private industry or an Educational Institution.

iii. Self-Financed, including those on Study Leave (SF)

Part Time PhD Scholars Categories:

  • Part Time-External Candidate
  • Part Time-Internal Candidate
Qualification Min Education after class X CGPA Work
Experience
Post-graduation degree in the relevant area of Design, Management or Technology (or) equivalent qualification from an institute/ university of national/ international repute 7 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.0 on a 10 point scale (5.5 for SC/ST candidates) or equivalent
OR
55% (50% for SC/ST candidates) marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters)
None
Where the Master’s Degree is found to be in a discipline not relevant to the areas identified by NIFT 7 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.0 on a 10 point scale (5.5 for SC/ST candidates) or equivale
OR
55% (50% for SC/ST candidates) marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters)
10 years of professional experience (teaching/working) in the proposed area of research
Bachelors degree in the relevant area of Design, Management or Technology (or) equivalent qualification from an institute/ university of national/ international repute 5 Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 8.0 on a 10 point scale (7.5 for SC/ST candidates)
OR
Equivalent as determined by the Institute wherever letter grades are awarded; or 75% (70% for SC/ST candidates) marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) where marks are awarded
10 years of professional experience (teaching/working) in the proposed area of research
