New Delhi, 19 June 2020: Amid nationwide lockdown due to Corona Virus pandemic, all academic activities have come to a halt. Admission activities for next session have been already delayed.
In India, there are 31 National Institutes of Technology (NITs). Out of these are five NITs who have opened their Admission window for PhD programmes for July 2020. PhD Programmes in NITs are popular as these institutes offer Institutional Fellowships as per Ministry of HRD Guidelines.
Out of these 31 NITs, NIT Calicut and NIT Andhra Pradesh have already notified and closed application window for July 2020.

NIT Warangal PhD Admission with Institute Fellowship July 2020 ! Decoding Eligibility
Warangal: National Institute of Technology (NIT )Warangal, the third Top ranked NIT in India, has released PhD Admission Notice for July 2020 session. The PhD Programs, in Full-time (FT) and Part-time (PT) modes, are offered in 13 departments of the institute.
Fellowships: The candidates selected for admission into PhD under Full-Time program are eligible to receive institute fellowship as per MHRD rules. Category-wise (EWS, OBC, SC, ST, PWD) reservations on overall available seats will be followed as per Government of India norms.
NIT Surat releases PhD Admission notification for July 2020
Surat: Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat, an Institute of National Importance, has invited applications for PhD Programmes for July 2020 session.
The institutes provide PhD programmes under the following categories: (a) Full-time Institute Research Scholars (FIR); (b) Full-time Research Scholars and Paid by Government/Semi-Government Organization / QIP / EFIP (FRS); (c) Full-time Sponsored Candidate (FSC); (d) Part-time Institute Faculty and Staff (PIS); (e) Part-time Project Staff (PPF); (f) Part-time External candidates (PEC); (g) Full-time Self-Financed candidate (FSF); (h) Full-time Study Leave candidate (FSL).
Nagpur: Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur, a part of NITs group of institutes, has invited applications for PhD (Full Time) program admission for July 2020 session. There are 15 departments where PhD admission has been sought. Candidates, who’s ME / MTech/ MArch/ MPlan / MSc result is awaited, can also apply for PhD program.
Key Dates: The receipt of application will start from 01 July 2020. The closing date for submission of application is 30 July 2020.
NIT Silchar: PhD Admission open with Institute Fellowship for July- Dec 2020 session
Silchar: National Institute of Technology (NIT), Silchar has released PhD Admission Notification for July 2020 session. The PhD programmes are available 11 departments. Research Fellowship is available to the scholars who are admitted to PhD programmes in different departments subject to the availability as stipulated by Ministry of Human Resources Development.
Key Dates & How to Apply: Last date of submission of form to the Institute is 26 June 2020 by 5PM.
PhD Admission open for 70 seats for Autumn 2020-2021 in NIT Jamshedpur
Jamshedpur: National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur, an Institution of National Importance, invites applications for admission as Full-time Research Scholar to PhD Programme of the Institute for Autumn Semester 2020-2021. Full-time research scholar is eligible to receive institute fellowship.
