Palaj, Gandhinagar: A five day workshop on Advanced Pedagogy and Digital Tools commenced today at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) under the aegis of TEQIP (Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme) – phase III, with the first batch of about 60 engineering faculty participants from all over the country.  This time, the five days Summer Training Program will equip the faculty of engineering colleges with ‘Advanced Pedagogy’ and ‘Digital Tools of Learning’.

The topics of discussions include Technology enhanced Learning; Tools for Active Learning; Active Learning for Mathematics in Engineering and Technology; Hands on session on Digital Learning; Digital Resources, and so on. Participants will also learn through case study on active learning and will engage in discipline-wise panel discussions. Faculty member of IITGN will interact with the participants of TEQIP III through various sessions on advanced pedagogy and will introduce the participants to a few digital teaching/ learning tools.

Welcoming the participants of the first batch, Prof Amit Prashant, Professor in Civil Engineering and Prof Pratyush Dayal, Assistant Professor in Chemical Engineering at IITGN, gave an introduction to the course. Prof Amit Prashant said, “The objective of the program is to discuss how the faculty of technical education in India can evolve for effective teaching by using digital tools and latest technology. Teaching should be a two way dialogue / interaction with the students, curriculum is just a small part, it is learning that is more important.” He encouraged the faculty participants to become examples for their students with the help of their knowledge, experience and practice.

TEQIP is a summer training programme on Active Learning for faculties to improve the quality of technical education system in the country. The second batch of the course will be held from May 27 to 31, 2019, and the third batch will be held from June 10 to 14, 2019, which will make more than 200 participants go through this workshop in total.
